Sketchy Thursday 3/25

HOWDY ALL!

Here is my take on the sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays:

I used a pic of the card I made for the Purple Cows Contest. I didn't win, but was THRILLED to make the top 25!
The 12 x 12 paper is a lilac from CTMH
The black/white is actually Cow Hide Paper, I thought it was appropriate! LOL!
Other paper is Creative Memories
I made the Purple Cows Logo on my Cricut.
Flowers and brads from my stash
The purple looking ribbon is actually Dry wall tape that I inked. All inking was done with CTMH Hydrangea ink.

Paper Flowers

HOWDY ALL!

I finally got around to doing the other page that will go with my winning layout for Imaginisce's February Sketch Challenge, this is also my entry for Creative Scrappers Sketch 93:

I have had several requests for instructions to make the flowers that I made for my layout, so here ya' go:

To make each flower you will need a 3/4" x 12" strip of paper, distressing ink, a scrap of paper for the base and a tape runner. (for the flowers on my first layout, I used 1/2" strips, but they were hard to work with, so I did 3/4" this time and they worked MUCH better.)

I pleated my paper at about 3/8" intervals, making sure that it would lay flat, but making my folds so that they would curve into a circle.

Once I had the strip all folded,
I took my distressing ink and inked the outside of the ruffle.
I then flattened it back out and used my tape runner to put long strips all the way down the back side.
Then take your scrap of paper and start making your flower, turning it as you go.

at the end, I tucked it under the start of the flower, to make my circle.
I then stitched it down to hold it all in place.
Then I trimmed the excess scrap paper.
for the last step, I distressed the top and put a pop dot in the center. I hand cut my circle for the top as I didn't want it perfect, and then distressed it also.
There you have it a COMPLETE flower.

1 Layout- Many Challenges

HOWDY ALL!

I am THRILLED with all the goodies I received from Imaginisce! AND, I have already used some!! WOOHOO!! Took me a day and half of just looking and touching it all! LOL!

Here is the Layout I made:
I used the Lucy Bird Collection, I JUST LOVE IT!

I joined in the BLOG Hop over at ScrapFIT and knew that I would have my girls on the first day of spring, so thought I would take some cute pics of them to use my new goodies. Well, as you can see, we had SNOW yesterday, 4-5" of the stuff! UGH! I had to use the following things in my layout: Spring theme, (well at least the layout is springy, even though my photo is not!) the color Green, some bling/glitter, an insect, a Handmade flower, ribbon, the color Pink and buttons.
I used sketch #94 over at Creative Scrappers.

Here is a close-up of my twisted fabric, handmade flower:
and here is my title that I sewed, I found the inspiration for it over at the Imaginisce Blog:

Sketchy Thursday April Guest DT Challenge

HOWDY ALL!

I decided to do a layout for Sketchy Thursday April Guest DT.
I had to use these things:
Prompt
- Fill in the blanks: "If I could __________, I would ________."

Technique - Mist or paint IN PINK.

Sketchy Twist - Use this sketch:

I thought about this for awhile, and couldn't come up with the prompt, as there were so MANY things that I could fill the blanks in with. SO, I just decided to use the title, "Perfect, just the way we are". Here is my layout:
The "Perfect" was straight, until I sprayed my paper with Glimmer Mist, and now it looks crooked. UGH! I do like the way it turned out. The paper is from Creative Memories and the buttons are from my stash. I used Pink Bubblegum Glimmer Mist. CTMH Private Eye Tiny Caps and lowercase letters and the "P" is from The Paper Studio, Timeless Alphabet. Buttons and thread are from my stash. "WE" is Alpha Large Serif Foam letters from EK Success.

My Minds Eye Challenge 9 and Sketchy Thursday 3/11 Layouts

HOWDY ALL!
I made this layout for My Minds Eye Challenge 9. The challenge was to design a layout using "A Blast from the Past" and to use this sketch:
This photo was taken back in 1979 and was found recently by my Uncle, the picture is not the best quality, but it is a MAJOR heirloom for me. It is my Grandparents homestead, and every time I look at it, it brings back many fond memories of my childhood, hence the title. I will be buying a frame to showcase this in my home.

Here are some close ups of my flowers and ribbon:

Products I used:
My Minds Eye Paper:
Bella Bella: Bleu Striped, Simply Dottie and Sophie. Breaking Free: Blue Texture and Shabby Dots. Andrea Victoria: Tan Polka Dot.
Memories Title cut from Cricut Home Decor
Rectangle Paper Doily
CTMH: Private Eye Tiny Numbers Stamps and Corn Blue Ink
Brads from American Crafts
Offray Sheer Baby Blue Sheer Ribbon
Color Box Cat's Eye Chalk: Ice Blue and French Blue
Drywall tape that I tinted with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink

This Layout I made using the 3-11 sketch from Sketchy Thursday:

This is my Princess Abby on her first Birthday back in 2006. I used My Minds Eye Love Me Do.
The title I made using Make the Cut and CK Puppy Love font, with my Cricut. The flowers and lace are from my stash. The brads are American Crafts. Color Box Cat's Eye Chalk Lipstick Red.

An Easter Basket Tutorial

HOWDY ALL!

I was challenged to do a Tutorial to show how to make something, so after searching for ideas I came across several baskets. I figure with Easter just around the corner, I could make some baskets for my grandkids. I wanted to be able to use just one sheet of 12 x 12 paper, so here is how I made them:

For each basket you will need a 12" trimmer, 1 sheet of double sided 12 x 12 paper, 1-5 1/2 " square of cardboard, double sided tape, pencil, ruler, crop a dile, paper scorer, coordinating ribbon, 8 eyelets and 2 brads.
Cut your 12 x 12 paper into 2-5 1/2" x 12" strips and then you will have a 1" strip leftover for your handle.
use your pencil and make a mark 3 1/4" from each end, use your scorer or a ruler to fold these ends up.
Next mark holes about 1/4" from each side, you will have a hole on each corner of your 5 1/2" strips.
Add your eyelets to each hole, and make a mark in the center for you handle.
Put your cardboard in the center of your bottom piece, using your double sided tape.

Add your top piece and use your double sided tape to stick them together.

Use your coordinating ribbon to bring the sides together and tie in a knot, continue all the way around.

In each end of the 1" x 12" strip punch a hole, you will then attach your handle to your base with the brads.

And you have a nice basket to fill with grass and goodies. I plan on adding some pretties to the sides, to personalize for each of my grandkids.
